Welcome AISearchPro: search becomes conversational

How many times have you got lost in a maze of filters and drop-down menus, desperately searching for that product or piece of information? And how many times have you got a wrong or overly broad list as the result of a text search?

Search can be a frustrating experience, whether it is about finding links to products or searching for documents among thousands of company documents. But what if you could simply ask for what you are looking for, exactly as you would with an expert human being? With AISearchPro, Open Gate's new AI product, the conversational search revolution has arrived.

By now we are all used to asking the AI a question in natural language, and getting a text back in response, also expressed in natural language. In this case it is about asking, in order to get a list of links in return.
Links to what? Documents, articles, information, items...

A practical example? A potential customer lands on your clothing ecommerce site. They are looking for an "elegant men's winter jacket". After a long series of clicks on categories, filters by size, color and price, they give up, discouraged. With AISearchPro, their experience would be completely different. They would simply write "I'm looking for an elegant jacket for the winter, warm but not too sporty" and AISearchPro would return the link to the perfect products, in a few seconds.

If instead your frantic search were not about items, but about information... the same consideration would apply: how convenient would it be to simply ask "I need the proposals made in the last two years that include cloud architectures" and get a list of matching files?

The same applies if your company has a wealth of editorial content, videos, products, if you are a news site, a university with a research archive... if they are easy to find, then they are easy to use or buy or to subscribe to a service that makes them available.

It is fair to ask what AI applied to search adds, and the answer is simple: you can provide the information about what you need in "human" language, adding details and clarifications. If you did the same thing without AI, even the best full-text search engine would not know where to put the focus to perform the search. This is where AISearchPro comes into play: reasoning by vector proximity (an artificial intelligence technique that analyzes the meaning of words and sentences to find the most relevant results), it would navigate it perfectly, identifying exactly what best answers the question asked.

Furthermore, classic keyword search has limitations tied to the need to find the exact word: with Embeddings, meaning is what counts! If I search for "I need to change the tyres on my car" or "I need to change the tires", the results will be the same.

The use of AI in the "Search" field is a hot topic among the Big players too.
These days there is a lot of talk about AI Overview, that is, how Google Search will change, thanks to the boost provided by generative AI.

During the recent Google I/O, as expected, there was a great deal of talk about Artificial Intelligence. In particular, there was talk about how Google's most universally known product, namely Search, will change thanks to Gemini, also providing AI-generated summaries (AI Overviews).
Links to websites will obviously not disappear... but an answer to our question will be provided, accompanied by links for further reading. Moreover, our "question" will not necessarily have to be textual, but can be asked using video and voice, allowing us to perform complex searches.
This means that users will see more and more AI-generated results at the top of search results pages.

It seems that OpenAI will not stand by and watch what Google is doing. It is rumored that it will launch its own search engine, based on ChatGPT, dedicated to online searches. It has been talked about for a few weeks and everyone is waiting to see what will happen.
